In the senate on the illegal pesticide market - the battle is still on!

During a common meeting of MRiRW (Agriculture and Countryside Development Committee) and Environment Committee on 21 July 2015 in the Polish Senate in Warsaw, issues related to safeguarding the Polish market from the influx of illegal and fake pesticides were discussed.

Delegates from POLSOR (Polish Agricultural Services and Distribution Organisation) and PSOR (Polish Plant Protection Organisation) proposed their solutions to the issue. Both organisations propose, among others:

  1. Closer cooperation and interaction between customs, law enforcement, and phytosanitary authorities at all borders, both on European Union and state level.
  2. Creation, on the state level, of an interistitutional team, in which PIORiN (Main Inspectorate of Plant Health and Seed Inspection) would be the leading institution.
  3. Investgating several debatable issues in the Polish law relating to pesticides, their trade and turnover. This would include a consideration of a significant increase in fees for licensing parallel trade and allowing to withdraw such a license in case of law infringement.

The representatives of MRiRW present at the meeting emphasised that these proposals would be further analysed.
